The Society welcomes three new Board Members

Three new executive Board members were recently been appointed during the Executive Board meeting in September.

Toby Wilkinson, who has also been involved in the re-launch of the CIRO course, will become Head of the Education Committee in addition to taking up a seat on the board as an executive member. Toby has worked in-house for a range of GCC companies such as Ooredoo, Aldar and Mubadala over the past six years, setting up and training IR departments in line with international best practice. Prior to that he worked in the City of London for over 20 years, and so brings a wealth of experience to the Society from various sectors and markets.

Pawan Hedge, Managing Director, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Middle East, Africa, Russia at Thomson Reuters, will also join as an executive Board member, with a specific responsibility to Chair the Finance, and the Governance & Control Committees. Pawan is based in Dubai where he is responsible for driving GRC development across the region in his role at Thomson Reuters. Prior to being appointed to this role in May 2013, Pawan was Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for GRC, based in London, and before that Finance Director for Strategic Markets and positions in both the UK and US, in Finance, Strategy and Business Development, having joined Thomson Reuters in 2006.v

Finally, Omar Darwazah, currently a Senior Manager at Orascom Construction Industries and previously Head of Investor Relations at the same company, will take up a seat on the ME-IR Society Board. Omar has eight years of international experience in corporate finance, corporate communications, management consulting, strategy and investor relations. In his current role, Omar conducts business development in North America on behalf of OCI and evaluates new investment opportunities in the natural gas-based and infrastructure sectors. He has been involved with the Society for many years and has played an important role in establishing a presence in Egypt.
