- Capital market stakeholders discussed a new vision for investor relations (IR) regionally amid changing market environment and regulatory developments
- Saudi Arabia’s capital market developments a key topic for stakeholders
- Largest regional investor relations event attracted broad spectrum of IR professionals, capital market regulators and finance executives
Capital market stakeholders attended the eighth annual Middle East Investor Relations Association (MEIRA) Conference and Awards, held today at The Address, Dubai Mall, reflecting the growth of professional investor relations practice in response to changing market regulation.
The conference is the regional flagship platform for investor relations professionals to discuss regional developments in response to rapidly maturing capital markets, and drive change through collaboration and the implementation of best practice, while providing members with networking opportunities.
Influential market players from listed and private companies, investors, family offices, the exchanges and regulatory authorities were among the participants addressing this year’s theme “Forward shift in MENA: a new vision beyond oil”.
Speakers at the event explored recent industry developments including the opening of Saudi Arabia’s exchange, ongoing macroeconomic challenges and the outlook for regional capital markets, as well as the impact of competition for capital, and how IR professionals can best drive forward best practice.
To coincide with the event, Alex MacDonald Vitale, chairman of MEIRA, announced the society’s move to become a registered professional association, reflected in its new name of The Middle East Investor Relations Association (MEIRA). “Regional markets are rapidly adapting to the changing economic landscape, and working hard to attract interest from foreign investors. With this change comes an expectation of best practice in IR and investor engagement. The move to become a registered member of the Dubai Association Centre is welcomed by the industry and our members, as we take the organisation to the next level.”
The 2016 Investor Relations Awards Ceremony also recognised the region’s leading investor relations professionals, acknowledging their contribution to developing and raising investor relations standards across the region. MEIRA is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting best practice IR in the region. The Association benefits from the support of its sponsors, partners and members.
