The ME-IR Society, in partnership with Silicon Oasis Ventures and the Middle East and North Africa Private Equity Association (MENA PEA), today announced the launch of the first Middle East Start-Up Forum to be held in Dubai on the 14th of November 2014.
The Forum will aim to bring together some of the most promising start-ups from across the region to showcase their ideas in form of a short three minute presentations delivered to an investor audience.
“The Society acknowledges that the field of Investor Relations goes far beyond the interaction of listed companies with its institutional or retail investors. This latest initiative is aimed at raising awareness of IR best practice amongst high quality start-ups” said Michael Chojnacki, co-founder of the ME-IR Society.
“In its efforts to stimulate a knowledge based economy in the MENA region and boost the venture Capital ecosystem around the region, the MENA Private Equity and Venture Capital Association has teamed up with the ME-IR Society to provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs to share their stories. We would like to encourage entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and serve as a beacon to future and aspiring entrepreneurs in the region” said Lina El-Zein, Director of the MENA Private Equity Association.
Silicon Oasis Ventures, one of the most active growth investors in the regions, welcomes this initiative by the ME-IR Society. Dr. Philip Boigner, Director of Technology Investment at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and partner at Silicon Oasis Ventures is excited to see of such events showcasing the quality of young start-ups in the region. Without a doubt the first annual Middle East Start-up Forum will become a cornerstone of the entrepreneurship ecosystem of the region.
The Forum will be held during ME-IR Society’s annual conference, which attracts numerous investor relations professionals, investors and from all across the region.
Applications for start-ups to apply to pitch during the forum are now open.
